Summary
His freedom is a concept that has lied out of reach for him since he was first captured, as he never assumed that there would be any other way for his story to end: the scientists on the ship made it clear he would be trapped in America until his new owners grew bored with him and severed his life at any moment they deemed fit. He wished for freedom, naturally, but as his time on the ship lengthened this wish changed. It seemed unfathomable to leave Hao behind when Hanbin was growing more convinced that they belonged together. He wanted Hao to always be with him, to brush a hand through Hanbin’s hair or pinch his cheek or smile at him in that soft, amused way he does. Two rivers running in parallel to each other until their time of confluence.

Summary
Startled, Hao jerks upright too quickly and immediately regrets it, accidentally dropping himself back down onto the jewelry holder. Pain shoots through him hard enough to make him wince.

Hanbin crosses the room in seconds.
Hao finds an intimate use for Hanbin's hand-shaped jewelry holder when loneliness gets the best of him. Hanbin chooses that exact moment to surprise him.

Summary
To Hao, there was something freeing about being taken out of his own head and having the choice being made for him before his anxious brain can start spinning its usual webs of doubt and overthinking. “I trust you to know what I need before I even know I need it,” he’d confessed, his face still wet with remnant tears from when Hanbin had pushed Hao’s brain past coherence to blissful blankness from overstimulation, his voice utterly wrecked from incessant moaning.
And it makes Hanbin’s blood run hot that this is a choice all along and Hao is actively deciding to submit to him. The power Hanbin holds in his palm is power that has been bestowed to him willingly.
