    Baran knew, Trinity was convinced. Knew her terrible secret. Why else would the acting chief attending watch her so intently, take every chance she could to ask Trinity about her personal life, and question others in the ED about her?

    Secrecy was of the utmost importance; the average public was not supposed to believe the tales that these creatures of the night actually existed. Which was why Baran Al-Hashimi, who was most certainly not a vampire, knowing Trinity was, would be a ticking time bomb.
