Ilya Rozanov misses his mother.
This was an inherent fact to him, as inherent as I am Russian, or I am a professional hockey player, or I love Shane Hollander. I miss my mother was something that had been true since the moment he found her lifeless body in her bed when he was twelve years old, and it was something that would always be true until Ilya Rozanov himself ceased to exist. Even then, it would probably persist somewhere in the ether. Ilya is unlucky like that.

Alexander Hamilton had never been able to be in a state of inactivity. His words, thoughts, and actions always gave the impression of running at a million miles per second; he was a live wire with energy coursing through his veins at every hour of the day. It was something Alexander prided himself on, as it encouraged him to get shit done and always motivated him to be at the top of his game (with a little help from daily cups of coffee with two shots of espresso, of course). Hell, it's what got him his job as a main journalist for The New York Times, even with being fresh out of college.

Shane Hollander works at a coffee shop, plays hockey, keeps his head down, and doesn’t ask questions he doesn’t need the answers to.
So when a new regular starts showing up—quiet, watchful, Russian-accented, and conducting invitation-only meetings in the back—Shane notices. Rather than give him the joint, Ilya takes it back between his own lips and sucks in a deep breath, the tip glowing as he does so. Then, before Shane can process it, he’s reaching up and sliding one large hand around the back of Shane’s neck, pulling him down so their lips meet.
Shane gasps softly, and Ilya takes the opportunity to blow smoke into his open and waiting mouth.
Oh, God. Are you there? It’s me, Shane Hollander. We’ve had our differences, but I think I’d like to convert for real this time. I’m ready. Open the pearly white gates. I’m coming up.
