Mark was just a little boy who hadn’t yet grasped the gravity of the world.
Although sex was one thing, gender certainly shaped society. But his mother’s reassuring voice meant that everything was all right.Unlike every other child who dreams of being a superhero and flying around the world, he wanted to be something more peaceful. A strange thing for the son of the great hero Omni-Man, a dominant alpha who had been saving the world ever since he arrived on Earth.
He watched his mother cooking dinner as she pressed her hand to her tummy. He knew. He didn’t need to be told to know that his mother was going to have another little one. And that filled him with joy.
It’s a shame the world isn’t as kind as he is.

Summary
You didn’t expect me to be someone you cared about. Damian finishes the thought for him, teeth gritting behind his closed lips. His skin is prickling with the pressure of being seen, recognized. It’s not what he wanted. It’s not what he asked for. And yet—when Grayson’s hand brushes his elbow again, steadying him gently as they walk down the fire escape, Damian doesn’t pull away. His instincts are screaming at him to shake the touch off. That’s just sympathy. Just pity.
