Vi sat up a little straighter. Her stomach twisted, an early warning siren starting to hum.
“What news?”
Silco didn’t blink. “You and Caitlyn are getting married.”
Vi burst out laughing so hard it echoed through the office. She doubled over, nearly gasping, one hand smacking the armrest of the leather chair as she cackled.
“Ohhh shit,” she said, wiping fake tears from her eyes. “Whew—good joke. So what’s this actually about?”
“Nobody is joking, Vi. You are to be betrothed to Caitlyn Kiramman.”
Her laughter died instantly. “What?”
