Honestly, El needs a lot of things.
What she finds, instead, is a snarky, sullen boy. Ambitious, and uncaring of others’ opinions. He doesn’t really teach her any of those things.
He does teach her how to throw a punch.

Mike’s lips rested against Will’s head, brushing against his hair gently. His arms clung to Will’s sides as he started to tremble. The way his hands felt against Will’s body felt foreign after so long apart. It was so odd to think they hadn’t seen each other in over a year.
“It’s– It’s my dad. He’s dead, Will. He’s gone.”
“I’m so sorry,” Will said as they pulled apart slightly, glancing up to study Mike’s face. “What happened?”
“It was a heart attack. I just thought I should tell you in person, you know. Since I’m not sure you’d get a letter if I sent it, anyway. Plus, I just wanted to see your face again. It’s been so long. Too long.”

Snape had warned him that after what had happened, Harry might never wake, and that if he did, he wouldn’t be the same. It didn’t matter to Draco though. Draco’s face crumpled. “I’m sorry Harry, there is no way back.” It was like a bell had been struck inside Harry’s head - all he could hear was ringing. “There’s no where to go back to,” Draco moaned. “He wasn’t just trying to travel in time - he was trying to obliterate his own.” Draco choked on his tears. “There’s nothing ahead of this to travel to yet Harry.” He let out a few more hiccuping tears before finally suppressing his noises of pain. “There is no going back,” he whispered.

Summary
For a moment he wishes Sirius was there.
He closes his eyes, allowing him to accept it even as his lungs scream for him to continue fighting. He hurts…so much. It is overtaking him, drowning out the voices that continue to berate his mind. But he still cannot bring himself to fight back. His mind goes fuzzy, his consciousness beginning to lessen its hold on his body.
Yet, for a moment, he swears the pressure of the water leaves him. He swears that he is gasping for air and actually obtaining it. And, the thing that makes him fully realize that this is his mind’s last attempt to give him peace, is the mirage of his brother staring down at him, eyes widened in shock.
And just like that, Regulus finally loses consciousness.
Or…
A simple loophole ensures the survival of Regulus Black, and he is about to make it everyone’s problem.

The first two nights, Harry sleeps like the dead— or, well, maybe that's not the best comparison, given the number of inferi attacks reported lately.
He sleeps like a log. Like a dead log. An un-re-animated dead log. From an everyday, inanimate, non-whomping tree.
After that, Harry wakes up screaming more nights than not, and he even cries on the bad ones, which makes James cry too. In this regard, James reckons that his first week of parenting a full-grown teenage adult bears an awful lot of resemblance to parenting a newborn baby. He feels both blessed and terrifyingly out of his depth.
