But now he can’t shake that same incessant need to find out, if for no other reason than to give that 26-year-old kid that he used to be some closure.

Dean’s heart skips over, and then again, when he sees her out in the yard, blonde hair shining under the sun. She’s wearing a sundress that comes down past her knees and her hair is up in a ponytail that her bangs fall forward out of across her forehead. There is not a wrinkle on her face, and Dean’s skipping heart breaks in a way that it shouldn’t be allowed to in Heaven.
She looks up at his and Cas’s two-story like she’s confused, and Dean finally finds his voice as he stands from his rocking chair slowly.
“Layla?” he asks across the space between them.
or the one where the bad finale happened, dean and cas are married in heaven, and dean remembers a certain someone from years ago
