In truth, Deuce had first imagined he’d been dreaming the sight: a lumpy little creature, ears licked by blue flames, pawing at the stories-high window of the Heartslabyul Housewarden’s room. He could blame it on mid-nap deliriousness, the vague fog of not-quite-awake that draped over him. He would have, even, eyes already slipping shut as he shifted his position on the couch, sliding one leg over the pair that had become entangled within his own, snuggling up cozily into the plush cushions beneath him and—
A bang on the window roused him, fully, jolting him from the sweet lethargy that had begun to sink back into his body.
“You idiot!” Muffled behind the window, the lump hisses, maw set in a tight, angry scowl. Deuce blinks, and the gray shape focuses, fuzzy blue edges sharpening with rage. “Let me in!”
As spring break nears, fourth-years Ace, Deuce, and Grim take a trip down Heartslabyul's twisty-turny memory lane.
