It’s a calm September evening when it begins.
His second year has just knocked on his door, but before James could get up from his warm bed, it crawled inside after breaking his window.
The record shop he works at is small, on campus, and usually he mans the place on Wednesdays and Sundays. It’s in an old building’s ground floor; the floors are a worn-down redwood and the clock on the shelf near the counter ticks loudly. Loud enough that he hadn’t heard the bell’s giggle.
He thinks he’s in a reverie. How can someone be so pretty, even without a face?
