Summary
Dr Shane Hollander knows exactly where his life is headed. He’s back at Mass Gen, chief resident on the Harvard OB/GYN program, his dream fellowship spot all but guaranteed. All he has to do is keep his head down, log plenty of cases, and see the year out.
But then a disastrous first day leads to a drunken hookup, and then the stranger Shane left in the bar walks into his OR the next morning. Naturally, the guy's a total asshole. Even worse, he's a brilliant surgeon.
So much for Shane keeping his head down...

Shane wants to be offended, but Ilya’s hands travel lower now, close enough to the hem of his briefs that circle his thighs, and it makes his breath catch. Ilya taps the fabric gently.
“Do you ever let yourself feel, Shane Hollander?”
Shane takes in another sharp breath.
“Do you ever let go?”

or: shane is an excellent hockey player with control issues, ilya is a yoga instructor (amongst other things) with a talent (or, maybe, a very unprofessional approach) to undoing people carefully, and they surrender to each other at a retreat meant for healing.

Summary
“Shane.” Ilya takes Shane’s head in his hands, squeezes his cheeks so that Shane looks puffy, absurd. Beloved. “I am saying that to me, even though you are retired, you will always be No. 1 hockey player. Fuck Wayne Gretzky.”
That’s what does it, as Ilya knew it would. Shane rears back, spluttering, outraged, trying not to laugh.
“Oh, I have committed blasphemy now. They will take back my citizenship, big crime, very sad.”
Shane smoothes his hands along Ilya’s calves, rests his fingertips on Ilya’s ankles. “Fuck Wayne Gretzky,” he says. He looks like he can’t believe what he’s saying. Ilya wonders, distantly, if he can get it on tape to play back to himself when things feel particularly bleak. “We can live in exile together. I don’t care. You’re my, my best, my second best hockey player forever too.”

Shane decides he has to retire. Ilya, of course, will go with him.
