Will sounds like he really means it. Still, he doesn’t look away from Mike’s lips, as if caught there. Caught between his anger and something else entirely.
Mike swallows, keenly aware of the blood that’s trickled down his face and into his mouth. “Fuck me?”
As it turns out, going to university in a new city doesn't help Mike get over his unresolved feelings for Will. Such is Mike's luck that, when the party reunites in Hawkins for the break, Will seems to be completely over Mike—and he has his extremely likeable boyfriend in tow.
Or, Mike is the kind of drunk who makes out with a guy while pretending he’s his estranged childhood best friend, then realizes his feelings for said friend may not be as straight as he had hoped.

Mike’s eyes lit up immediately at the sight. “Holy shit.”
Will held it up between two fingers like a magician revealing a trick. “Jonathan insisted we needed it after midterms. Gave it to me for free, said it was a gift.”

Summary
In the summer of 1989, the Byers family moves to Montauk, cutting short Mike and Will's last summer together before college. Certain he'll never see his friend again, Will confesses his love on their last night together, rocking Mike's world entirely.
