Summary
After the disastrous adventure in episode 7, Caine reflects on himself, realizing that he’s completely failed at his purpose. But instead of blaming the humans, he decides that the problem lies within his code, and he’ll do anything to fix it.
The humans are reasonably upset after Caine’s latest adventure, but when Pomni realizes that the AI has been suffering more than any of them could imagine, it becomes their mission to help him and make the circus a better place for everyone.

Summary
It’s been a few days since The Favorite Character Awards.
Pomni has been through a number of bizarre things during her time in the circus. Candy truck chases, angel head horrors, minimum wage labor, athletic events, gun-filled battle royales. But none of these come close to what she witnesses on a seemingly innocent day full of beach-filled fun: Caine attempting to take his own life.
After managing to stop him, Pomni takes it upon herself (and is borderline forced to by Bubble) to help keep Caine’s mental state intact by engaging in improvised therapy sessions with him. After all, if Caine died, what would happen to the circus? And to the humans that lived within it? This was her only concern at first. But as Caine opens up to her more through these sessions, she realizes just how much the AI is hurting and how long he has been harboring these negative emotions.
Turns out Caine needs more help than she thought.
He's just as trapped in this game as they are. And worse.

Guess has been leaned over the side of the bunk for a few minutes. Jolyne's been politely pretending not to notice, hoping she'll go away, but apparently it's not in the cards.
Guess clears her throat.
"Now that you have the bottom bunk... Do you think we could share sometimes?"
"Not in your dreams," Jolyne snorts.
"I'll make it worth it," Guess pouts.
"What, you'll pay me to cuddle you?"
Wouldn't be the worst thing she's done for money, and Guess couldn't possibly be as murderous in her sleep, right?
"No," Guess says softly. "But I'll make it worth it."
