Pretending to be a Beta works wonders for keeping his distance, especially from this world's Tony Stark. The problem with gravity, though, is that no matter how hard you fight it, it always ends up dragging you back to the ground.
Or: Peter copes with the trauma of his losses and a biology he doesn't understand, while the Avengers—specifically Tony Stark—try to protect a fourteen-year-old pup who absolutely refuses to be protected.

Just before the battle with Thanos, Dr Strange pulls together enough power to send one person to a different dimension. No more late night lab visits with Mr. Stark, hacking into government websites and building new stupid nanotech bots that vacuum the floor only if you beg it and sound like a certain Captain, or robots that twisted in all angles like infinity cubes to play ultimate twister with. No more study sessions with MJ, listening to old punk rock bands and doodling in the margins. No more lego building with Ned, building and taking apart and building that Lego Death Star dozens of times in his bedroom.
And, worst of all, no Aunt May to wake him up on his bad days with a worried frown on her lips and a fresh hot chocolate in her hands to warm him.

Peter and Ned create a device that can playback a person's memories, but Ned accidentally breaks an important part of the system leaving Peter connected with no way to safely remove the device. The replacement part will take days to programme leaving Tony with a vulnerable Spider-Kid showing off all his memories and secrets on a screen.
It's a good thing he likes the kid, and has the avengers to help him look after the dork while Ned fixes things. And maybe watching a memory or two wouldn't hurt, after all the kid is like a son to him and Tony just wants to know him better.
