Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, he removed the tissue to get a better look. Fortunately, the cuts appeared to be shallow, the bleeding only a sluggish ooze. Then he leaned in closer when he realized the lines weren’t just random slashes. They formed discernable letters, much like the crude initials Sam and Dean had scratched into the Impala with a knife when they were kids. The etchings in his skin were more than just initials though; there was no mistaking the word the letters spelled out backwards in the mirror.
FREAK.
Bobby. Castiel. Dean. One by one, the members of Team Free Will have had their spirits broken in their quest to stop the Apocalypse.

The moments after the Walk had officially ended, when Ray had fallen to his knees after hauling Pete up and urging him forward, when the Major had stood beside Ray with his pistol pointed at the back of his head, two other soldiers with carbines pointed at Ray’s gut, his brain had stopped working. He had heard Ray receive his final warning, the numbers as much a physical wound as his ruined body, and had screamed, “Wait!”
The Major had looked at him, cocked his head in curiosity, his expression unreadable behind his aviators. Ray, sprawled like a broken thing across the wet asphalt, forced his head up to peer blearily at Pete from beneath his hair, but Pete had continued, unperturbed. “I want my Wish! I’ve won, he’s got his ticket, and I want my fucking Wish!”

He liked the softness, the dough-like squish of love handles between his fingers, the silky press of bigger bellies against his own abs, thick thighs wrapped around his waist.
Ray was just perfect. He was a little chubby in ways that made him feel self-conscious, and what drove Pete absolutely insane. The first thing he fell in love with was his adorable, round face and soft little double chin hinting at his jaw. His cheeks looked like beautiful, ripe apples when he smiled. How could Pete not fall deeply in love, and stay madly attracted to his body forever, when he looked like that?

They keep looking at each other, silently, until McVries’s lips quirk up like Garraty’s said something funny, and he lifts his bottle to his lips.
“What is it?” Garraty asks. “What’s so funny?”
McVries shakes his head, still wearing that knowing smile. “Nothing, Ray. Not a thing.”

It takes Ray three years to stop walking.
Not never-endingly, obviously. He would have died by some sweet, sweet miracle, or perhaps forced Fate’s hand, shooting a damned bullet into his own skull. Maybe he would use a wish for one of the Major’s men’s guns, so he could do the deed as it was meant to be done. Maybe he still would, regardless.
But no, Ray didn’t walk endlessly. It only took a too-loud noise, a moment of sleep, a lapse in focus to force what was left of his legs down. Any slip-up, any pause in the effort, anything that was just a little too close to that moment in the dirt, his feet aching, aching, far too tensed up; his eyes pointed at the sky, gazing at that magnificent blue; his thoughts, a never-ending loop of I’m going to die, I’m going to die, I’m going to die; any of it left him struggling up onto unhealed stumps and walking, walking until he was inevitably held down by someone again.or; i read the long walk and had too many emotions to not write about it
