Eddie cleared his throat. “Would you, um–would you want to meet Chris?”
Buck froze with his back to Eddie.
Whoa.
Eddie wanted to introduce him to his son?
That was…that felt big.
“If–if you want to,” Eddie tacked on, a nervous tremor in his voice now. “I don’t–you don’t have to.”
Buck whirled around so fast, he nearly fell over.
“You want me to meet your son?” he murmured.
OR: Buck meets Eddie's son for the first time.

“Well,” Maddie started, “Eddie, that is my brother, Buck. This is a very on-brand first impression for him.”
Grinning, Eddie turned back to Buck and held his hand out. “Nice to meet you, Buck. I’m Eddie.”
Buck grasped his hand and squeezed it.
Wow. His hands were big. Eddie felt his face turn hot.
“Pleasure is all mine, Eddie.” Buck smiled at him and continued to hold his hand for longer than necessary.
Eddie didn’t mind.
OR: Buck first meets Eddie at Maddie and Chimney's dinner party. It goes about as well as expected.

He stands, frozen, at the foot of the bed, and watches as Eddie parents his child.
When did that happen? he wonders, a buzzing alarm set loose in his head. The knowledge of it– the feeling that comes with it– crashes over him.
Eddie glances up, all dark eyes and warm concern when he’s the one in the hospital bed, and oh–
Buck loves him.

Buck nods, face incredibly sad, he seems to think for a second, “You should let me come home with you.”

“So when you open your eyes, I’ll be there,” he explains. Just like that, like it’s easy, like—

“...My husband here is always talking about coming to this restaurant.” Buck holds his breath while waiting for Eddie’s response.
Eddie blushes immediately, “Yeah, I just love the food…” he says, nodding. Buck’s heart skips. He thinks Eddie will leave it at that, but he adds to the lie, “See, we’re celebrating our wedding anniversary tonight.”
(Or, Buck and Eddie keep referring to each other as husbands, it’s undoubtedly nice… They’re not together, no. It’s a best friend thing.)
