“I’ve thought about it, too.” Kirishima admitted, his gaze never leaving Bakugo’s. His voice was quiet, but there was no hesitation, no shame in the confession. “Not just tonight. A few times. What it’d be like with you.” The words hung between them, heavy and final. “Guess I didn’t realize how much I wanted to know until now.”
They just stayed like that, it wasn’t awkward, if anything, it felt like the air had cleared, leaving something unspoken but understood between them.
Kirishima’s hands stayed where they were as he tilted his head slightly, his grin turning playful again. “So... This makes things more interesting, huh?”
Bakugo snorted, shaking his head slightly, but the smile that lingered on his lips was genuine this time. “Yeah, Ei. It fucking does.”

Summary
They had crossed boundaries that were set long before and were fumbling blindly through whatever they had together, and it was amazing as far as Kirishima was concerned. He didn't want it to ever end, but the looming fear about how Bakugou felt in return always tied Kirishima's tongue and choked him out of the conversation before it even began. The sudden regression wasn't exactly comforting, either. Was it selfish of him to adamantly ignore the elephant in the room only so he could eagerly bask in the fleeting affections Bakugou gave? It felt sacred in a way, as though the two had carved out a secret niche of the world only they were privy to. He wasn't ready to give that up.

He couldn’t let himself think too much about the man lying there, who would have made him come apart in minutes if that damn beeper hadn’t gone off.
Bakugo dragged his eyes away, swallowing hard as he bent down to grab his clothes from the floor. His hands moved fast, practiced, slipping into his pants, pulling them up rough over his hips. His shirt came next, wrinkled and smelling faintly of sex and sweat, but he didn’t have time to care. His fingers flew over the buttons, closing them up while Kirishima’s eyes followed him from the bed, pout still carved deep into his mouth.
“They need to hire more doctors,” Kirishima complained.
Bakugo huffed under his breath, almost smiled. "I’m the best," he shot back, fastening the last button. "They’ll always beep me in situations like this, even if they hire more doctors."

At thirty five, it's not quite the future that's happened.Bakugou has it pretty good: still a pro hero - though not ranked, a respected heroics teacher, and most days almost a decent person. He has a good job, good friends, and by all measures a pretty nice life, even though it's not what he wanted back in the day, what he thought he'd be living.
And at the same time, he keeps wondering:Is this...it?
It's not until a long-lost friend comes back into his life that Bakugou starts to wonder if he could maybe do better than just existing.
