Summary
The gentle scritch-scratch of Jaskier’s pen on the parchment after they’ve shared an evening meal is soothing: it’s the sign that the day is over, and Geralt has miraculously survived another hunt.
Jaskier is always writing in his journal, taking notes, drawing monsters, detailing their adventures. Geralt can't understand the appeal - he's never felt the need to re-live every day. And then, quite suddenly, the writing stops. Alone again, Geralt picks up a pencil and a half-empty journal, and uses them to find a way through the darkness.

The last letter wasn’t old. There, on the top of the page, Geralt could discern an erased Geralt, beloved, and the first letters of what seemed the starts of darling. Finally, Jaskier had settled. Just like he’d done then, Geralt found himself craving to actually be called what the bard first intended to call him. Instead.

Summary
Getting stuck in Kaedwen in winter had never been on Jaskier's plan. It's cold, they don't appreciate his music and nobody likes their national beverage anyway. The only redeeming thing Kaedwen has is Kaer Morhen, so Jaskier does what any reasonable bard would do in this situation: he decides to charm his way into Kaer Morhen to hibernate with Geralt and the other witchers. If nothing it will be an experience no human has ever had, fuel for songs and poems for years to come, while finally teaching him a thing or two about witchers he's just dying to know.
Curiosity tended to kill the cat, but Jasker had always seen himself as more of a bird anyway.
