Summary
His blood’s humming under her ear as she presses the side of her face into his shoulder. And then something else is humming, like the noise the turntable makes in between songs but louder, staticky and strange, making her hair stand on end.
“D’you feel that?”
Mark just nods and holds her closer, his arms going stiff.
Helly peers over his shoulder at the silk-shaded lamp by the chair as it starts to sputter, making a sound like a trapped moth, then goes dark. And so does she.
