Summary
Will could still feel it. The storm. Feel the way it moved, fast and endless and alive, spreading through everything; through him. Black clouds twisting in impossible shapes, something enormous shifting inside them.
He jerked upright with a gasp and the room slammed back into place around him.
The dorm he shared with Mike. The single beds they’d pushed together to make one. The faint glow of the lamp on the other side of the room – always left on for Will. The low, distant hum of the city outside.
New York. 1992.
Not there.
But the feeling didn’t leave. It clung to him, cold and heavy.
The lamp flickered.
He froze.

Summary
He adapts well to each occupation.
Something moves inside the body's stomach; it protrudes outwards, then settles back into place. It will serve perfectly.
You feel it, don't you, William?
Will doesn't respond, not with his voice. But the body beneath him heaves faintly, forcing a whimper.
Every inch of you knows. Every pulse. Every tremor. I have already claimed it.
The words are like a caress and a claw at once. Warmth snakes along his spine – Will's spine – impossibly close, like a hand resting where none should be.
Why fight to protect what is already mine?
Three months after the bridge collapse, when Hawkins begins to rebuild and things feel normal again, something starts stirring in the recesses of Will's mind.
Or, someone.

Summary
The earth crumbles beneath Mike’s feet like sand in an hourglass, giving way and dropping him into the abyss of time itself. His mind rolls like an ocean, strong and thunderous with no sign of its current easing or becoming the shallow calm of a gentle wave. It is a beast with no name.
The gates of hell open to swallow him whole. They chitter and growl, guttural and gaping. They squelch in meaty flesh as they part beneath his feet. He cannot resist its pull, try as he might.
The last thing he hears before the waves finally cease their crashing is the faint tunes of a song. One that is all too familiar.
So come on and let me know,

Summary
"Tell me, Sir Michael, do they ever let you out of that suit? Or do you sleep in it to hide the fact that there's nothing underneath but duty?"
Mike doesn’t blink. "I sleep in it so that if someone like you tries to sneak into the Prince's quarters at night, they find six inches of steel instead of a door."
or;
Jealous personal knight Mike Wheeler will shatter anyone who dares to touch his prince. That includes slimy Lords from the South who want to court him.

In the summer of 1989, the Byers family moves to Montauk, cutting short Mike and Will's last summer together before college. As the tear-filled goodbyes draw to a close, however, Mike is suddenly offered the unexpected opportunity to travel with the Byers family and help them move.
They have five days out of state together to address Will's confession, learn to communicate, and maybe, just maybe, say a few things they should have said all along.

Summary
“’Morning,” Mike grumbled, voice low from sleep.
“Noon,” Max corrected, as if she hadn’t only woken up thirty minutes before him.
“Wow,” he replied, squinting at the light. “Nobody thought to wake me?”
It happened casually after that, so casually it almost didn’t register at first. El laughed at something Lucas said, then turned toward Mike and leaned in, instinctively, easily, pressing a kiss to his lips like it was the most logical way to say good morning to him.
.........
Or: Mike and Will have been together for a year and a half when El comes back. The problem is, El assumes she and Mike are still together. The bigger problem is that Mike doesn’t realize Will thinks he might choose her.

“I have a more important question,” Will says. “Um, why did the cleric have to be in love with the paladin?”
Turns out, it actually was all just a longwinded campaign of Dungeons & Dragons. The party has some concerns about Mike.

Summary
A sharp crack tears through the air. Mike flinches back, staring down at Will's lifeless body. He gets one last look before the ground is giving way beneath them, and all at once, they’re falling.
A shrill cry tears from Mike’s throat as he finds himself flailing through the open sky. A sharp crack of lightning shutters in the distance. Will's limp corpse contorts, dropping faster than he can. He’s screaming, unimaginable terror ripping through his body. He writhes, reaching for Will, crying the boy's name.
He’s falling, plummeting through a destabilized upside down and there's nothing he can do to stop it. He’s going to die.
Mike reaches out, eyes squeezed close. He tears the watch from Will's wrist, seconds before colliding with the Exotic Matter.
.
OR
Colliding with Exotic matter as the Upside Down collapses in on itself sends Mike hurtling through time. He’s given the chance to save Will before any of this starts.
But he can’t seem to get it right. Reliving moments throughout the years, helpless to warn Will. He just wants to keep him safe. Why can’t he keep him safe?
He’ll do this again and again until he gets it right. He won’t lose him again.

Summary
“Why do you laugh?” Mike the Brave asked. The question was utterly sincere. He could not fathom the source of the mockery, of why Mike would be laughing at his display of fealty.
Mike spluttered, his face flushing. “I—It’s just… you only got him a book off the shelf? That’s your big ‘honour to serve’ moment? It’s just… a book.” He gestured vaguely, defensively, at the book, embarrassed.
Will the Wise’s lips curved into a smile tinged with sorrow. He looked from the flustered boy to his own beloved protector, his hand reaching up to stroke his Paladin’s cheek.
“He has crossed realms for me,” Will the Wise said, his melodic voice filling the cottage. “He has faced beasts and shadows and the silence of the abyss. He would do anything for me, and I for him. The grand quests are written in songs and psalms, sung by revellers around fires and bards in the inn. But the story of us… it is written in these small things. In a fetched book, a mended cloak, a tender kiss in the dawn light.” He looked directly at the younger Mike, his gaze piercingly kind. “We like to remind each other of our affections. In every possible way. There is no deed too small to be an act of love.”

Summary
“Just saying, if you’re taking another hit, you should share it with me,” Mike says, and Will slowly tilts his head, drinking in every word. “It just makes sense. Like, mathematically.”
Will’s reddened eyes narrow, bewildered. “Mathematically?”
“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”
In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.
So, they get a little high. Mike is very normal about all of it.

Summary
There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.
Mike understands, though. Mike has been paying attention.
