Summary
The Enterprise is investigating an ion storm when mirror Kirk appears with an urgent message: mirror Spock is dead, his Resistance is foundering, and Spock must take his counterpart’s place in negotiations with the Terran Empire. Spock repeated the words as a mantra in his mind. They were the original words of Surak, the sermon which had saved their species from self-annihilation. His wisdom had delivered them from fear and the destructive, untamable force of entropy.
