    Summary

It’s 1995 and the only flat in London that Remus Lupin can afford is one that’s falling apart and riddled with curses. When the curse-breaker comes in to survey the place, it’s Sirius Black who shows up at his door. On Remus’ doorstep, in 1995, they go through introductions. But they knew each other in 1982, back at university, they knew each other quite well, so why are they pretending they don’t have history?

He’s not quite sure what’s going on between them, what they’re doing, what this tightrope they’re walking is. He’s not sure it’s a good idea.

    Summary

He can still hear the party in the other room, hazy and indistinct but in here it’s quiet; just the sound of Remus’ breath in his ear, static in the receiver, white noise fizzling at the base of Sirius’ spine.

He hears Remus swallow and then: “You still there?”

Sirius lolls his head to the side looking down at the tile floor. There’s a crack in the grout and Sirius digs the heel of his boot into it.

“Do you still have that freckle behind your ear?” he says in answer.

“What?” Remus titters, his voice choking out, startled and brittle. The corner of Sirius’ lip starts to curve up and he catches it, teeth between lip.

“The freckle,” he says, white knuckled grip on the telephone, “the one behind your ear. The one you scratch at when you get nervous.”

“Well I can’t very well see behind my ear, but it’s only been two months, Sirius. I reckon it’s still there.”

James is the natural confidant of both Remus and Sirius. When they both swear him to secrecy on the same topic, James is stuck watching his friends pine for each other without being able to say a word to bring them together. A lesser man might shrink from the challenge of finding a way to break his promise without breaking his promise, but not James Potter!

Requiem aeternum dona eis: eternal rest grant to them.

Much as everyone purports that time is linear, it’s really not. Time scrunches. Time folds. Time has teeth and like gears left too long out in the rain, time can rust and get stuck. And it's different for everyone.

Or: a story about the thin line between love and madness and friendship written in the stars. About growing up and tasting tragedy and finding a semblance of peace (or purgatory) in the cracks left behind.

They say Sirius Black is a madman. They say he betrayed his closest friends…

Poor Peter is on the run. In hiding, one might say. On the lamb…

Greatness, at least in Remus’ opinion, is a complete fucking lie.…

A tale told in 3 parts.

"I can hear your thoughts," Keith nearly whispered.

Lance went pale, but that wasn't what Keith was focused on. Because he could feel the horror creeping up inside himself as Lance heard his declaration. Because he could feel his own heart skip a beat in time with Lance's. Because he could feel the rejection bubbling up inside him as Lance frantically worked out what all this meant.

"Wh—what are you talking about?" Lance said, stumbling over his words even while his mind screamed clear as day please say you're lying just say you're fucking with me don't play these kinds of games with me—

In which the paladins are subjected to the unfortunate consequences of a broken mind meld program.
