Summary
Xena was lying on her bedroll, eyes open as she stared up towards the stars. Her sheathed sword sat just inside her reach, and sunrise was still more than a couple hours away. Around her the quiet activities of wildlife hummed in unison, as they always did. A small sound carried beneath them, one that had flickered and threatened to go out not too long ago, the faint whisper of Gabrielle breathing.
Up above, branches of nearby trees obstructed Xena’s view and cut sharp divisions amongst the constellations. Leaves fluttered in the breeze and added to the undercurrent of sound.
It wasn’t a good view of the stars, actually it was pretty terrible, but it was still better than what Xena saw when she closed her eyes.

Glinda let out a quiet sigh. Still, there was something wrong. She should’ve felt more lively, more happy and excited. Anxiety was an unwelcome and unfamiliar friend. She wanted to get married to Fiyero, didn’t she? She loved him, didn’t she?
Glinda shook her head to dispel the heaviness in her chest, calling for the Birds to look for the other pieces of her outfit. She had to keep getting ready; her audience was waiting for her.

“What?” Was Enid’s initial reply, her eyes wide with surprise. “Bruno wouldn’t, there’s no way.” She blinked rapidly in disbelief.
“He was engaging in a flirtatious conversation with her over the phone. I heard enough.” Wednesday wondered how she would’ve felt if that hadn’t happened, if Bruno had actually been the best partner he could've been for Enid. Would she still have felt that twitch of pain when seeing them together? She didn’t have an answer to that question, nor did she have the time or desire to ponder it.

My favorite album is their final one of course, but their breakout single's a close second. I have it on record and I listen to it alll the time. Don't you just love them?” Her light brown eyes nearly glimmered as she looked up directly at Mira.
Now, Mira did like the Sunlight Sisters, that was not to be denied. However, she had just met these people. She was not going to gush over anything with them regardless of the fact that one of the prior members of said group was in the next room over.
“Clearly not as much as you do.”
Zoey’s smile faltered, the eagerness dimming from her eyes. “Yeah, I guess so,” her voice had lost a few decibels and most of its enthusiasm. “Sorry.”'

He didn’t have anything interesting to say; he just rambled on about some girl he met. You cut his story short when you spotted the elder Serket passing by. It was odd to see her out of the castle; this would be your only chance to talk to her for at least another week. She had absolutely nothing new to offer, so you moved on to castle staff.

I've only read the first 14 chapters so far but wtf where has this fic been my whole life. This is everything I have ever wanted since I first read Wicked more than ten years ago. Incredible.
Updating now that I'm up to date with the fic. This fic has excellent characterization of Elphaba, Glinda, and Liir. The plotlines keep you interested while also tying in character development and relationship dynamics. It's refreshing to read something so well thought out like this, I absolutely adore this fic. Add to that the dedication of the author to write over 300 thousand words. Just stunning.
