“How interesting is your book?” Wriothesley asks, pushing away from the table and padding across the living room.
“Passable,” Neuvillette replies, finally lifting his gaze.
Wriothesley reaches for the book, and Neuvillette, intuiting what he’s about to do, quickly slides a bookmark into place just as Wriothesley plucks the book from his hands. Shutting the book and dropping it on the end table, Wriothesley climbs into Neuvillette’s lap. Sinks his hands into the mass of Neuvillette’s silky hair, canting his face up.
“There’re much more fun things to do tonight than reading,” Wriothesley says, bending his lips to Neuvillette’s.
When Wriothesley is greedy and desperate, Neuvillette impresses upon him the value of taking one's time and indulging.

Wriothesley tilted his head, eying Neuvillette in a way that caused the pit of his stomach to sink in.
"Is there something you want, Father?"
Though with a great amount of struggle, Neuvillette held his stare. Suddenly the room was far too hot, too tense for his liking. He toyed with his rosary, rolling the water droplet gemstone between his fingers.
"I… I'm not sure what you're asking. I don't have any desires, I am simply a servant of the cleansing waters."

Summary
Shen Yuan does not believe in folk tales, thank you very much. He especially doesn’t believe in the folk tales told over warm beer in bars with half drunk acquaintances, who are only trying to out-spook each other. He especially especially doesn’t believe that hiking up in the woods is a dumb idea because of the stories told about a giant canine beast.
He’s finished his trail bar and is standing up to dust himself off and head back when a loud snap reverberates through the woods behind him.
Instantly, there’s a chill at the back of his neck and all the fine hairs on his skin stand on end, like he can feel something staring at him from behind.
Shen Yuan turns slowly, his heart in his throat. Something is there, because he can hear heavy breaths, and the shuffling of leaf matter. When his eyes land on the beast standing at the edge of the clearing, he nearly shrieks and stumbles back.
