Summary
As soon as clock strikes one minute after midnight on December 1, Jaskier tries to rouse Geralt from his sleep, the emphasis being on ‘tries’. It takes five minutes of dedicated poking and tickling for Geralt to stir and grumble under his breath something about late nights and annoying bards, which said bard nobly chooses to ignore.
“So I’ve been pondering over our plans for Christmas this year,” Jaskier says cheerily, “and at last come up with a splendid idea! I do hope you’re intrigued!”

Summary
Before his attacker can lay another hand on him (before he’d run out of time, before his fantasy of living is up, before they take him up to his father-) he turns into them, grabbing the wrist of the hand that has a grip on him and yanking them forward. They yelp (above his head, they’re taller than him then) but he ignores the sound, darting out a hand to clamp it over the back of their neck (long hair brushes against his hand, past their neck, female?) and hooking his leg around to sweep their legs out from under them. He puts them hard onto the library floor.
A red haired girl stares up at him with wide, shocked eyes. Her hair, tied up in a perfect blue bow, fans out around her, russet curls framing her pale face. She’s dressed in a white shirt with a soft-booking baby blue sweater and a pleated blue skirt. Her tennis shoes are cleaner than anything Neil has ever owned and her knee-high socks are patterned with cartoon bunnies on a solid blue background.
They stare at each other for a moment, she’s breathing just as hard as Neil, and he can’t tell which one of them is more startled by what just happened.
