Summary

Yet, when he receives a letter from his old writing partner after seven years of zero contact, he drops everything to fly to New York and work with him again, this time on the stage. New conflicts rise amongst old tensions, but Jayce knows that in the end, making art with Viktor is worth all the heartache. Right?

Where Jayce is a basically-Jensen Ackles actor in a basically-SPN show who wants to make real art and direct and write and be in love with Viktor, his bestie from film school days who’s now a playwright in NYC. God, the theater making is good, and the slow burn is good, and the translation to this universe is seamless and perfect.

“You’re not gonna believe this,” Ekko says, slightly out of breath. “So I’m hustling Talis down at the forge, right? And I’m giving him the works.”
He ticks off ‘the works’ on his fingers as he elaborates, “I complimented his work, I name dropped Councilor Medarda, I went on and on about how much her investment really means to us, since you know their families are like this,” he crosses two fingers together tightly.
An effective visual, surely, had Viktor actually been looking.
“Then, I mentioned our project scaling up and he hooked it up for free.”
That, finally, gets Viktor’s full attention. He spins around on his stool, flipping his goggles onto his forehead. The heavy thud of Ekko’s haul is enough to imply just how big of a ‘hook up’ this was.
“What exactly did you say to him?”

The Great Gatsby inspired AU where all the little details of Arcane still work so well. Jayce and Viktor meet as kids and their mutual obsession starts early. Powder gets to play with fireworks and art. The floating bit happens when they swim together. Just… swoony sigh.

A dance AU where the author knows their dance vocab and Jayce read high fantasy tomes on the bus from Newark to ballet class and both starring roles of the central ballet were made on Viktor. Jayce discovers what a relationship can be like with someone as deeply obsessed with ballet as he is. Viktor discovers that his difficult relationship with his body doesn't have to mean a life of nothing but self-managed pain. A dance AU to end all dance AUs, basically.

Would you please show him to his site and introduce him to my darling tailor? It would seem he’s set up just across the lane from Jayce’s smithy.”
Mel Medarda smiles.
“Please inform Viktor that he can thank me later.”

“Don’t butcher my language,” he says instead and kisses Shane’s smile hard, like reflex, like gravity, like there was never going to be another option.
