"Excuse me, little doves," said a man. His voice was low and soothing, and it came from behind the two girls. "Would you mind letting me spend some time with him? You're welcome to watch."
Wonderful, Astarion thought bitterly as the girls flitted away giggling. Although, this was what he was brought here for, and maybe if he behaved... relatively... well, he'd get a reward. Theoretically.
"Hello, my dear," said the stranger, enveloping Astarion in the scent of brandy and parchment.
"Well hello, darling," Astarion replied, smiling in a way that felt right. "I'd say you look lovely this evening, but I'm having trouble seeing at the moment."
Astarion plays the role of blindfolded entertainment for the two greatest war mages in Cormyr, and assorted voyeuristic patriars.

In the doorway, holding a book to her chest, stood what Rolan initially assumed to be a dragonborn dressed in the Society of Brilliance's blue robes, her grey scales mottled with red and her snout unusually flat, almost like that of a snake. But as he approached, he realized that she couldn't have been more than five feet tall, far too short to be a dragonborn. His eyes fell on the clubbed tail swishing behind her, and his chest tightened with realization. A troglodyte.
It was her.
Or, Rolan meets his favourite author and is extremely normal about it.
