Summary
As children, Fjord and Jester were friends, communicating mostly by letters.
Then Fjord’s ship was attacked and it left him with no memory of his life before. He becomes a pirate, then a captain, then the Plank King of Darktow.
Jester, meanwhile, believes that Fjord is dead. She still meets The Traveler, then the rest of the Mighty Nein. Helping Yasha contact the Stormlord leads them to the open sea, where they are attacked by pirates and led to Darktow.(Rating is updated to explicit for certain chapters)

She had been consecuted eight hundred years ago, and was nearly as old as Leylas herself, or so they say. The Light had shone upon her and granted her, finally, two children - her golden boy, Verin, and her silver moon child, Essek. Both she loved, in her own way - though, Essek mused as he traced the gilded lettering of his dinner invitation, it was a peculiar sort of love. He couldn’t help feeling there was something missing in the flinch behind his mother’s eyes when she looked at him, how she rose to the occasion in public but did everything she could to pretend he was a ghost behind closed doors.

Summary
The dam finally breaks.
“I love you,” and she couldn’t hold the words back if she tried but she doesn’t even want to, “so much, Fjord.” His thumb stills but he doesn’t let go of her hand, eyes tracking across her face as if he’s looking for something.
Jester has nothing left to hide.
“And it’s okay if you don’t feel the same way. I’ll be okay. I just needed you to know.” Fjord nods imperceptibly, just to himself, and then he squeezes her hand, reaches up to cradle her jaw with his free one, and slowly ducks down towards her.
Jester doesn’t realizes what he’s doing until his warm mouth is pressed against hers. She’s frozen for a moment, staring at his closed eyelids and holding her breath, but then his thumb brushes her cheek and his nose nudges hers, and this is real.

Summary

That is, until the famed Trent Ikithon of the Cerberus Assembly shows up at their door with a "gift".
