Summary
One second Ryland sat beside the fire, breathing crying beneath the stars. The next Simon shoved into him hard enough that both of them crashed backward into the sand. Ryland made a startled sound as the blanket twisted beneath them. Sand scattered. The firelight jumped gold across Ryland’s shocked face.
Simon didn’t know what he was doing.

Summary
And then someone drops a stack of files, the thwack of paper a startling sound in the space between Harvey and Mike and the scene dissipates as they both turn to look, gazes rising from the mess of paper to each other, across the hallway. Harvey dimly registers that his mouth is hanging open unattractively. Until Mike’s thought process helpfully informs him that it’s not an unappealing look for him at all, in fact quite the opposite and a faint blush rises on Mike’s throat to disappear with him as he hurries away.
Harvey decides that the only downside of making progress in figuring this lunacy out is finding that he has no idea what to do with the information it’s provided.
To blackmail or to torture? Harvey hates having to choose between his favorites.

Hans sighs, beleaguered. “Alright, fine, I’ll explain further. Now, we are made in the image of God, are we not?”

“And as such, we embody all aspects of the divine. But because we are mortal and flawed, we do not embody them all, and imperfectly at that. When Adam and Eve ate of the apple, they introduced sin, and that sin was made manifest in their son, Cain, the first alpha.
“With Cain, wrath and rage entered the world. Eventually, God looked down and saw that it had brought ruin to his creation and he was forced to wash the world clean. They did teach you about the Flood, I hope.”
Henry couldn’t look at him. “Yes, my lord.”
“After the Flood, in His regret, God sent a gift to mankind: omegas, who embody His grace and strength. We are to tame the wrath and rage of alphas, and to stand against them to protect the innocent should that fail. And, of course, to help repopulate the world,” he adds cheekily, then laughs a little.
