She doesn’t meet her mother’s eyes when she says her day was fine. She doesn’t talk the whole way home. Victoria is too busy replaying the nurse's gossip in the back of her mind like a broken record. The way they kept calling her kid. The way her mom was an actual reason why they didn’t want to invite her. Worst of all, the way none of them thought she could be any fun to hang around.
