Summary
The year was 1981 and Marvin and Whizzer were basking in the early morning sun which crept in from a crack in the curtains. Still newly reunited, they were now living in and loving the thrill of first love for the second time. It was a sappy sight, with many apologies (mostly from Marvin) and lazy kisses and make-out sessions.

The air is knife-cold, the kind that slices straight through wool and bone. John Lennon steps out of the wrought-iron archway at 1 West 72nd Street, one hand raised in a lazy half-wave to the cluster of fans still lingering despite the hour. His breath fogs in the sodium glow of the streetlamp. Yoko is three paces ahead, heels clicking toward the lobby doors.
Mark David Chapman is already there, book in hand, voice soft as a lullaby.
“Mr. Lennon?” John turns. -

Was he joking? He had to be joking.
John continued before Paul could even think of an answer. “Not in a queer way, of course.” John said as if it was obvious. “We just… give each other a hand. Literally. Nothing weird, it just feels better when it’s not your own hand, don't you agree?”
“Well, ye-yeah,” Paul stammered. John's gaze stayed locked on his, challenging.
“Yeah? So come over here, why don’t you?” John

Summary
After “How Do You Sleep?,” John is overwhelmed with guilt and realizes his cruelty toward Paul was really a desperate attempt to get Paul’s attention. The song, the public attacks, even bringing Yoko into the studio were all ways of trying to make Paul react but instead, John only pushes him further into Linda, family, and life on the farm.
One night, alone at the Dakota while Yoko is in Japan, John has a terrifying dream that Paul has killed himself in Scotland because of John’s public aggression. He wakes convinced it is real, rushes downstairs in a panic, and the night valet assures him Paul is alive and it was only a dream.
Shaken and unable to be alone, John invites the valet upstairs for a drink and confesses everything: his guilt, his jealousy, his love, his need for Paul, and the truth behind his cruelty. The story unfolds with John revealing his deepest thoughts about Paul, before shifting to Paul’s quiet life on the farm in Scotland.
