"Do I growl at him?" Anya thought. She didn't do that at other people a lot. Papa told her to be a good girl and she didn't know if she was good at that. "Do I get Papa?"
As Anya was trying to decide, she heard the familiar steps of Papa walking up the back deck stairs. "Oh good," she thought, as she focused on pressing herself into Shane.
Sure enough, a few moments later, Papa stepped into the room. It couldn't have been soon enough, because Shane's heart was going very fast and Anya was very worried about how he smelled. He went right to Shane, Anya felt one of his hands join Shane on her as he hugged Shane with the other.
