    There’s a gravitational pull to the way Kiryu keeps looking into his eyes, like he isn’t looking at Li Hua’s abilities or wealth or connection, but him. Li Hua can’t help leaning in, pulling himself back only at the last second with a start before he goes off the edge. There’s an undeniable appeal to maybe having someone he can actually trust, without a backup plan to keep them in line if needed. …But it is an impossible, terrible idea.
