Dear Lana,
The prison therapist that I have been seeing suggested writing letters to myself as an exercise on connecting with my emotions and showing myself compassion. Perhaps she has a point; both these concepts are entirely foreign to me.
It feels rather strange to be writing to myself as one might to a loved one far away.
A loved one far away…well, one of those is true, I suppose. I have buried parts of myself for so long that I am distant to myself.
