”Sure is,” Takumi bit back, learning by now that Eito does this just to get a rise out of him. He’s better off if he doesn’t make a fuss. Takumi made his way over to the cage, examining his target. Eito looked relatively relaxed; he was on his side, laying propped up on one arm with a book laid out beside him. How he didn’t feel sore from reclining on the hard cage floor, Takumi would never understand. “I brought you breakfast.”

Takumi runs down the hallway like a bat out of hell. Their private quarters are relatively isolated, but once Takumi hits the main wing of their headquarters, plenty of recruits stare at him like they've just seen a ghost. He desperately tries not to imagine what he looks like, improperly dressed and red in the face, as he hauls ass to his office. At least two scheduled meetings have already ended, he's late for another, Kamhyun is expecting his notations on her new plan in an hour— he reaches for the heavy office door handles, expecting to come face to face with at least ten people irate with him.
Instead, he only sees Eito. Eito, alone, at Takumi's desk, looking up at the commotion and smiling.
"Good morning, General Sumino."

The first thing he noticed was that there was no sound coming from the Kabukimono. In every living creature, there was always a sound. Even a slime has sound coming from within its body, proof of them being alive.
But from this man—this being—he heard nothing.
He was like the wind, blowing through the land without any purpose. Wherever he went, there would be no trace of him having ever existed. As a child, Kazuha did not think much of it. When he saw the being’s beautiful face, all confusion as to why the being had no sound was thrown out the window. He hid behind his father’s leg in embarrassment, causing him to be reprimanded for his lack of manners.
“My deepest apologies, Kabukimono-sama," Kazuha watched his father bow to the being. "My son is a bit shy.”

The first sign of silver glinting under the bright Sumeru sun has Aether groaning loudly, but his latest ally has no qualms and does not flinch. Instead, a grin splits his face, as if he expected to be challenged. “Kaedehara,” he all but spits out Kazuha’s surname, and presses closer still, even as the grip on the sword tightens in response, blade digging into skin.
There are no signs of pain on the youth’s fair face, only the merest flicker of annoyance before he reaches out to wrap his slender fingers around Kazuha’s bandaged wrist, much like how one would caress a lover. But he doesn’t just stop there, pushing until the sword nicks and the first pinpricks of maroon stains his shirt.
“There is a debt that is owed. Take it,” he says, a storm stirring behind violet eyes.
