She smiled, the wrinkles around her mouth showcasing just how often she wore one on her face. “The tiger once bit a man in the forest and he died because of it. The tiger kept him, a man who had no family left to return to, and he’s stayed there ever since. Longer than me, and much longer than you.”
Jaekwan meets the creature that haunts the forest and falls into something more than he expects.

Summary
Minseong thinks of thrones when he sees Eun Haje sprawled in the seat, as much as Eun Haje would roll her eyes if he were to ever say that out loud. Maybe it has to do with how often he finds himself in supplication at Eun Haje’s feet, his knees bruised more often than not with how he’ll drop to them so that she has to look down her nose at him.
He likes it, they both do.
Eun Haje takes Minseong out of his own head.

There’s a corpse out in the world, sharing Choi’s face. A corpse that’s dragging something back with it and the longer Choi waits, the stronger it gets. Choi only has so long before it comes for him and he knows if it gets him, there’s no coming back again.
It’s like Jaekwan said, it gets to keep him if it finds him.

They’re meant to survive winter, Choi had said about the flowers guiding them into the town they had every intention of spending this winter in.
Jaekwan and Choi return to the town, and the person, they left months before as winter sweeps in.
