Summary
When Harry recovers, rolls over on his back and looks at Kim, he sees Kim’s shocked expression, and his face falls, suddenly worried he’s upset Kim somehow. “You okay?”
“Yes, I… Harry, I haven’t come like that since I was in my twenties,” Kim breathes, dumbfounded.

Summary
“I can’t wait another minute. I’ve been thinking about you all day,” Harry breathes low on Kim’s neck. “Please.”
Kim sighs, leaning back into Harry’s mouth. “I have to finish these reports. Tomorrow’s my only day off this week.”

Summary
“Ah, khm, yes.” Kim seems to remember himself. He turns to face his companion and his gaze leaves you like light leaving the moon. A sheer cliff face of politeness. He leaves you cold.
“Terrence, this is a colleague of mine. I was just saying hello.”
‘Just a colleague.’ That’s right. You’ve only only just met. In the rolodex of Kim’s acquaintances, you plausibly rank just above the teenager Kim sees every other night at his local Frittte.

Summary
“Oh, uh. Yeah. Just joined. Jean-Heron Vicquemare.” The man is clean shaven, young, cheeks marked with adult acne that looks painful, hands occupied, fumbling, trying to open a bottle of beer with a flimsy keychain opener.
“Du Bois. Let me get that for you.” Young Jean hands Officer Du Bois the bottle and the keychain, but Du Bois only takes the bottle, pulling out a set of keys from his back pocket and effortlessly popping the top open with the teeth of one key. The cap is barely bent, as he hands both it and the bottle back, smoke spilling from his mouth, putting his keys back in his pocket in one swift motion.
It’s the single coolest, most masculine thing Young Jean has ever seen.

Summary
Education isn’t for people like Harry, though he’s not sure why. He knows he can’t sit still and he sings in inappropriate places and that makes him less intelligent than others, and others are more intelligent and they don’t dance or do silly things, and that has something to do with it.
Puberty hits him like a freight train, hair and fur and stretch marks, and he always feels too big and he knows he is stupid and poor, but girls seem to like him all the same, and people tell him that’s a good thing and he believes them.
