“Mm. Here’s an idea—Why don’t you make it up to me right now?”
As he spoke, Yan Wushi’s teeth grazed the skin below Shen Qiao’s ear, while his fingertips began to flirt with the sash that kept Shen Qiao’s waist neatly bound. With both his hands and his words, he coaxed as if he were luring prey, sweetly murmuring, “A-Qiao… Come to bed with me. I won’t even make you work for it tonight. You can just lie there, if you like. On your back or on your belly, it doesn’t matter. Let this husband take care of you.”
A shiver rippled along Shen Qiao’s spine, though he didn’t know whether to blame it on Yan Wushi’s honeyed words or his looming illness. “I’ll have to disappoint you again, I’m afraid,” he said softly. “I’m not feeling well.”
Shen Qiao falls ill, but fortunately for him Yan Wushi has a rather creative way of helping him get through it.

“You keep showing up in my kitchen, lecturing my students, and criticising my soup,” Shen Qiao said mildly. “You are practically part of the sect by now.”
Yan Wushi leaned forward, resting one elbow on the table. “Careful, A-Qiao. With words like that, people may begin to talk.”
“They already do,” Shen Qiao replied, taking another calm sip of soup.
