“Indeed, Xaden,” the other man says, and from this far away, in the dark of night, she can’t tell them apart. They look nearly identical. Then the words catch up with her, and her blood runs cold. Xaden?
“Or, perhaps, Dunne?” The man called Xaden, who she begs to all the gods isn’t Xaden Riorson, glances at her coronet braid, where the silver strands are surely visible in the moonlight. “After all, it’s not every day you capture a beautiful spy on your own land, is it, Violet Sorrengail?”

She goes willingly, tumbling with him and ending up splayed on her back, Liam a hot line of warm skin down her front. “Yield,” he teases, and Violet wants him to stop teasing, to press down hard, to turn this playful mood into something darker.
“Make me,” she challenges, and cants her hips up in response, the move provocative. Liam blinks above her.
“Oh,” he says, a slow smile spreading over his face. “Is that how it is?”
