Summary
It started when he was younger, a passing thing he had done in the first foster home he could remember being in. He would close his eyes tightly, squeezing to the point he could make out sparks of color underneath his eyelids, and would take one last gasp for air before holding it just as tightly in his lungs. Then, he would wait.
The first time, he heard nothing but the sound of a porch swing creaking in the wind outside of his bedroom window. Cars passing by on the street outside. The gentle groans of a house eight times as old as him. No footsteps. Nobody coming running out of a divine sense that the little boy had stopped breathing. The world kept spinning and his lungs soon ached for the rapidly depleting oxygen. Nobody came.
The place changed, his lung capacity even changed, but the one universal constant was that nobody ever came through the door.
Maybe that's why Leon, drunk out of his mind on a motel floor, hadn't even heard the first knock.

Chris said they'd find a way out of it but Leon...Leon was a realist. So he did the only thing he knew how to do: he kept moving forward. Unstoppable, relentless. Summary
They never got to spend much time together, and when they did, Leon struggled to figure out where he stood. After decades of friendship—or something Leon considers friendship, at least—he’s still not entirely sure whether Chris likes him at all. He’s always had his back though, and that’s the important thing.
Leon is, unfortunately, easy like that. But, he also isn’t in the mood for Chris’s particular brand of Redfield judgement and tendency to open old wounds, especially not after the day he’s had.

Heavy footsteps come closer, but Leon is more than happy to ignore them until a gruff, familiar voice accompanies them.
“Leon, there you are.”
Leon opens his pale blue eyes just as the man stops in front of him. Leon takes in the latter’s appearance, as it’s been a while since they last met.
Chris Redfield.
Leon huffs and smiles tiredly as he takes in the older man’s gruff features. “That should be my line. Chris Redfield, always fashionably late to the party. You missed out on all the fun,” says Leon with amusement.

Oh, he has an idea. It's a bad one, he knows this, but he can't stop himself from saying, “what if I gave you road head? I'm great at giving road head.” Oh, that's not great that he said that. He'd rather have given away state secrets than brag to Leon fucking Kennedy about his road head skills. Fuck. Maybe he should just gag himself.
Leon sputters something incoherent and Chris opens his eyes just in time to see his knuckles go white as he grips the steering wheel tightly. “Stop talking, Chris!”

Shino was an absolute mess. His face was bright red, his lips raw, and his already untamable hair was sticking up in every possible direction. There was a bit of drool on his cheek, and his goggles were askew.
Before Kiba could say anything Shino reached up, grabbed onto said goggles, and tore them from his face, throwing them a few inches away on the bed. His sensitive eyes took a second to adjust to the lighting in the room, squinting despite the fact the lights were relatively dim. But after he adjusted he opened them wider, looking up at Kiba, looking him in the eyes. He'd never really done that before. He knew how hard eye contact was for Shino. It wasn't as bad when he wore goggles or glasses, but without his shield direct eye contact was nearly impossible.
Kiba had seen him without his goggles or glasses plenty of times now, especially since they had started dating, but he still rarely looked him directly in the eye. Side glances? Sure. Accidental eye contact for a second? All the time. Flicking his eyes to his own to make contact for just a moment? It had happened before. But he never really purposely stared into Kiba's eyes. Not like he was doing right now.
"Kiba...I-"
"I love you."
