[Dawn with no Eve]
An Authority of the Church of the Luminous Unknown, featured in the Dark Exploration Records. It is a 6th-level Authority under the Quota Worship Sect.
In its earliest form, it manifested as a ripe apple, appearing when a person was reaching into a location that obscured sight of their hand. The bearer would then hear a question spoken directly into their mind: Would they be willing to live as the only human in the world for 27 years in exchange for unthinkable wealth upon return?
Agreement required only a single bite, and rejection was still possible at this stage. One only needed to cast the apple from sight, and the apple would disappear even if one were to search for it after.
But the Quota Worship Sect sought a more absolute offering.
Through the intervention of another Authority, the apple was altered. The option to refuse vanished, and perhaps more crucially, death in this realm would result in the 27-year timer being restarted, where the prior consequence was death in the real world.
