Lestat’s thoughts flutter around him. An English phrase, poorly pronounced: must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? Then, back to French. Fuck me, he smells awful. Very unfair of him to look like Saint Sebastian and yet smell like a sewer.
Carefully, Armand extracts his fangs and lifts his nose from where it was scrunched against the skin of Lestat’s neck, the skin that smells like Marseilles soap and traces of stage paint. Armand pulls down his upper lip, works his jaw until his fangs recede. He glares.
Misunderstanding, feckless life choices, and hot water in 1795.

He expects to feel as self-conscious as he has every time he's ever done this, especially given how immediately Armand's eyes zero in between his thighs. Only the squirming, helpless sensation doesn't come. Something about the cast that Armand's face has taken; there's nothing of the devouring, conquering hunger Louis's memories had led him to expect. Armand still looks taken entirely aback. And nervous, more than a little.
Louis coaxes Armand into trying something different, and very much enjoys the results.

He pulls himself under the comforter, feeling like a child, senselessly terrified and hiding from monsters under the bed.

A prickling electricity gave way to a heavy charge in the air, and if he were outside, he’d guess it was about to storm. Could almost smell the ozone under the warm blanket of pressurized air. Nausea pooled in the pit of his stomach. Alarm bells rang in his head and he sent an insistent plea in Armand’s direction.
In an instant, the feeling was gone, and as he pulled in a desperate lungful of air, the room was silent and still, save for the shivering mass beside him."
