Summary
Of course Charles is no stranger to magical creatures. Werewolves, vampires, centaurs and a bunch more from all the different cultures around the world. Featured in so many works in literature, arts, films, etc, it's impossible not to know them. Normally they would stop at being just a work of fiction or a myth. But every once in a while, some weirdos will claim to have seen those beings with their very own eyes, explaining in details their encounter to the local news. Charles never really pays attention to them, they've already received enough when they make it on the next issue of the newspaper.
That is, until he himself becomes one of them. Now he knows why they act the way they do. Maybe not in the same way, but in similar fashion for sure. From what he's seen, it drives other people mad, but with Charles, it drives him into a love spiral.
or, a love story between Max as a mermaid and Charles as a regular human that is obsessed with him.
