Summary
Robert looks away for a moment, takes a sip of his beer, and decides that he might as well be honest with a total stranger, now that he has finally learned how to be honest with himself.
"I'm not really good at it. Not anymore." His therapist would be so proud.
"You? Now, that's hard to believe." The man smiles, a little sexy smirk that feeds the little flames licking at Robert's insides. "I'm Aaron."
There's a short, cold spike of doubt shooting through Robert's skull, a way too familiar fear circling in his veins, his thoughts racing to what happened, what could happen, and–
"Robert."
He's safe. He's abroad and he can't get to him.

“I’ll ask Robert!” Diane chimes in, “He just moved in here recently, he told me he would start his job in the new year, so he's going to have the time.”
Ah, yes, the elusive Robert Sugden. He came back to the area a couple of weeks back, and Vic couldn’t be more delighted. Somehow, Aaron hasn’t managed to meet him yet, something he doesn’t cry about, but he guesses he doesn’t have a choice now.

Summary
“Ya know,” Kev starts conversationally, arms still behind his back, “I knew blokes like ya inside.”
It's a strange segue, but John refuses to let this man throw him off anymore. John watches as Kev crosses the room, seemingly without a care in the world, but he can see the tension in Kev's shoulders, the tick of his jaw, his eyes hard even as his tone is light. He's a weathered string pulled taut, full of tension, or like – John's eyes flick down to Kev's wrist – a rubber band waiting to snap.
John hums, inclining his head, “I doubt that.”
Kev turns to John, eyes widening just a bit, a ghost of a grin on his face. “Nah, it's true,” He waves his hand over his eyes, “got the beady little eyes an' everythin'.”
Or: John's never found out and is still around when Kev comes to Emmerdale. He observes, plots, and realizes Kev is an obstacle he never could've foreseen in his pursuits to bring Robert down
