Taichi gives nothing away, his expression even across his face. Doesn’t even blink. Yamato’s aware, in that moment, that he’s never seen Taichi at work, behind those closed Security Council doors. The person he is when he’s weighing the balance of two worlds, making the choices the rest of them wouldn't be able to stomach. That as much as he knows him, and loved him once, there is a part of Taichi he is still not allowed to know, because they both understand he would not love him the same again if he did.
