Summary
Seven years after the Battle of Yavin, a vengeful Dedra Meero languishes in a New Republic cell. A remorseful Syril Karn buttons up his new uniform as a member of the Coruscant Security Force, stumbles into new interpersonal relationships, and tries his hardest to settle into a new life.
Dedra’s sudden admission into the government’s fledgling Amnesty Program upends both of their worlds — and, after years of bitter separation, forces them together again. As Dedra lashes out and breaks down, Syril’s pulled into a tense investigation that leaves him questioning whether there was more than benevolence involved in Dedra’s "second chance"… and whether he and Dedra are in grave danger.

He’s come to understand that there are two versions of the woman he loves. There's ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero, who leaves the refresher, goes to work, comes home, and proceeds through her nightly routine. Then there's another, less precise woman whose hair frizzes just slightly at the edges, who gives a beautifully indelicate groan when the chrono announces through a chain of shrill beeps that it’s time for her to wake, and who lives only in overnights and limps to the refresher.
Syril and Dedra go through their workday morning routine. Written for Keero Week Day 1: Fluff.

“I haven’t been inside it,” she says. For the few missions that required her to stay at the tower, she spent the night on the couch in her father’s quarters.
“It’s probably really nice,” Bob says. “Everything here is really nice. This is actually, like, the nicest place I’ve ever lived.”

His hair is dusty and he’s in this blue sweater and sweatpants riddled with holes from when he stepped in for the mission he wasn’t supposed to be on. He’s looking at the pantsuit-woman, with his hands hanging loose against his sides like he hasn’t got a thing to hide. Yelena had seen him only hours earlier in the vivid coloring of an East Coast sunset, getting shot at by multiple field agents with a diverse variety of arms and numerous rounds of ammunition. He’d refused to standby while they sent in an extraction team - humans he said the minute they stepped into the tower.
