Summary

What if, after tragedy and loss and life kicking him while he is down, Buck needs a place to stay? What if Tommy is there to lend a helping hand, a spare room and friendship - never believing he could have more? What if Buck regrets his choice of words that morning after - carrying his own flame for his ex? What if Buck finds the ring? I imagine it would be something like this.

It had only been four weeks since Bobby passed and Buck felt all of it settling harshly right into his bones. It felt like months had passed rather than just weeks and at the same time, like no time at all. It was no wonder he’d had to come out to the beach all on his own in the middle of the night.
Did he not ask what it was like for Eddie to find out?
Or, Buck is grieving, Eddie is the worst, and Tommy is the soft place that Buck needs to deal with it all. 8x17 and 8x18 fix it fic.

Summary
In the wake of another bust during his apartment hunt, Buck winds up at the place he feels safest - with Tommy. A shared night ends in a shared morning, setting Buck on a path of realization and growth. He has to examine where his place is and whether he can continue existing in the exceedingly suffocating environment of the firehouse that was once his home.
Choices must be made, and perhaps, it is for the best if Buck does like everyone says and is actually selfish.
