    Huey moved to do as he was told but Louie paused him with a tug on his sleeve. He pleaded with his barely older brother: “Is it just me or does this feel more stupidly dangerous than our usual adventures?”

    An adventure goes wrong, causing Huey to make a devastating choice to save Louie while Della learns more about each of her boys. More than she was ready to stomach. (This is vaguely a continuation of my last fic but you don't need to read that for this. Small warning though: This gets pretty heavy, dealing with the effects of child abandonment and poverty, so… Enjoy?)
