1) All the characters are in their second to fourth year at Harvard University.
2) Pretend like all these majors would have common classes. I'm in high school and have zero idea of what uni is like so cut me some slack.
3) Some plot events are included / modified to fit the story, and some I cut out completely.

“Why not?”
He sucked in a breath. “Because we’re too different.”

The silence between them hums, electric and entrancing.
Then it hits him—they both want the same book.

Throughout the whole night Yoichi had been so, so strong, but this time he couldn't hold back from facepalming. If mermaid tales, U.F.O. sightings and vampires were part of humanity’s greatest mysteries, then the thought process of Alexis Ness regarding all things Michael Kaiser followed close behind.
Trusting two highly dysfunctional adults to solve their own relationship problems was the first mistake and Yoichi, slightly drunk, involving himself in that dispute the second one.

Michael Kaiser had always prided himself on control. His life was a symphony, each note played to his exact specifications. Nothing could shatter his carefully constructed world—until the phone call.
It came late at night, an unwelcome intrusion into the serenity of his apartment. He frowned as his phone buzzed, the number unfamiliar. He almost ignored it but felt an inexplicable urge to answer.
"Is this Michael Kaiser?" a voice asked.
"Yes, who is this?" he replied, irritation lacing his tone.
“Mr. Kaiser, we’re calling regarding Mr. Alexis Ness. He was brought into our hospital after being found unconscious on the street. He appears to have been attacked.”
