A wholly pointless endeavor, you see. Still, for these crucial first few months of life, it would be best to keep their shared daughter fed and content. There was no taming the Dihui Star, nor was it ever their true intent. Like all of the other Nursefathers, she had been tossed here with the landfill for a purpose. A singular purpose.
A purpose that is crying inconsolably in her crib.
“Make her stop,” Yoru says, back turned to him.
Make her stop! Stop what? That white kimono answers nothing. Its blue accents meld into the warm colored background of infinite corridors, giving her an appearance of mist—unfocused, unformed. This illusion, of course, was provoked only by her clothing. She herself was a woman of firm presence.
“Rien, you witless bastard,” she growls, glancing over her shoulder. The veil could not conceal the gleam of red eyes. Then, she repeats emphatically, “Make her stop crying.”
On cue, like raindrops, his god beckons.
Beep.
To Rien:
Obey The Pinky Nursefather Shiomi Yoru's request.
So be it.

Is it selfish to believe she deserves freedom? Actual, concrete freedom—beyond what they would assume and delegate. Freedom from this imposed thirst of the mother whose children now exist only within her head. She wants to feel the soil, smell the wildflowers and wheat fields of distant hills, and gaze at the twilit skyline with naked feet.
Without Rocinante, the sole concept that flows is nothing short of 'food.' Drink it; take it in. Please hurry and spare this parched throat from death. It's freedom from one pain, but it brings another. Now it's nothing short of 'take,' 'drink,' 'recover,' and 'rip into flesh'—'ravage their souls and soak in the pool'.
Because that's your duty as a predator; live. Uninhibited. A Bloodfiend needs no dignity nor righteousness, and the Kindred that dare dream of heroics are delusional hypocrites. If she were a characteristic Bloodfiend that lacked the ambitions of nobility, maybe her fate would've differed—less dramatic, less melancholy, but significantly easier.
Alas, Don Quixote made the choice to pick up a weapon and wield it, if only so no other children would fall by the sword.
