    “Deku, what the fuck,” It’s almost indistinguishable from his usual tone, but Izuku doesn’t miss the way his voice is shaking a bit. It takes him by surprise to see his childhood friend look so distraught over this.

    Izuku grabs for the counter to help himself up while maintaining his gaze. “Kacchan,” he says again. He thinks he must look pathetic. He doesn’t know what else to say. ‘Help me, Kacchan’? ‘Go away’?

    His mouth stays open, as if it were stuck like this, just gaping. “Kacchan,” he repeats, but now he sounds desperate, because he is. “I think I’m dying.”


    Izuku is hit by a quirk that stops him from sleeping, his friends are worried and Aizawa needs a break.

    Inko never supported his dream of being a hero, but Izuku didn't think it would be to the extent of throwing him out when he made it into the hero course as a quirkless student.

    In the end they'd made a deal : Izuku leaves without a word of it to anyone, but he gets to use her address as his, and she'd play the part of a caring mother as long as he kept her out of his business as much as possible.

    Izuku was pretty sure he could have kept the deception up the whole three years too, if it wasn't for the villain attacks, and Aizawa-sensei's sheer stubborness.

    “Welcome home, Mom,” Izuku plasters a smile on his face, and it’s the most plastic thing Hitoshi’s ever seen.

    Inko doesn’t respond to her son, who clearly loves these boys more than her, and he shouldn’t, when she’s given up everything for him. He’s choosing these boys over her, choosing to use them in his little hero plot — she heard them after all; talking about winning the sports festival and joining heroics courses, and she’d listened to Izuku rambled about it enough when he was little to read between the lines and get a good idea that they were working together on that. Izuku must be planning on using them, even if he doesn’t realize it — since he can’t make it far without a Quirk to call his own.

    So yes, it’s clear he loves them more than he loves her, despite all she’s done for him, but it’s not his fault he’s selfish, that he takes and takes, that all he ever does is use people. How can he do anything but, when he’s so weak, when he’s so fragile? That doesn’t mean she will reward him for his unfair behavior. She watches him for a moment, watches the way his expression falters and then crumples, and then she turns around and walks to her room, silent.
